ON HUNGER STRIKE, ANAND KRISHNA LOST 16 KG

The student of Anand Krishna requests the Team Of Judges to give consent to house detention. MONDAY APRIL 18TH, 2011, 18:32 WEST INDONESIA TIME ZONE. SYAHID LATIF

VIVAnews – the defendant of alleged sexual harassment, Anand Krishna, who is now detained in Cipinang Detention Center reportedly lost his weight as much as 16 kilogram (kg). Seeing the condition, 9 medical science practitioner requested Anand’ detention to be transferred into house arrest.

“Since the first day of hunger strike until 23rd day, although he was treated and given intravenous, he lost 16 kg. Now it certainly is more than that,” says one of the meditation participants, Muslihah Razak in her letter addressed to the Head Judge of Anand Krishna’s trial Hari Sasangka, which was received by VIVAnews.com in Jakarta, Monday April 18th, 2011.

In the letter signed by 9 medical practitioners, the doctors convey their concern about Anand Krishna’s hunger strike which lasts for 40 days.

The medical practitioners deem, the aminofluid intravenous, ivelip, which is given routinely to Anand Krishna cannot replace a normal eating function. Besides, the condition of Anand Krishna’s internal organs are estimated to go through disturbances which can turn fatal.

The medical record also states Anand Krishna’s health is deteriorating since his detention. During the first 8 days in jail without intravenous, Anand Krishna collapsed in court during trial. “It means that his body resistance is getting weak,” says Muslihak.

Anand Krishna was also treated for two weeks to help him recover his deteriorating health which is marked with a high blood pressure, diabetes, and heart arythmia. Nevertheless, Anand was sent back as a detainee in Cipinang Detention Center.

“In the detention center without intravenous, in three days, his condition deteriorates and was refered to the Police Hospital,” says Muslihah

During his treatment in the Police Hosppital with intravenous, Anand’s glucose level dropped to 64. It was feared that if he didn’t get a glucose injection, the consequence would be fatal.

Nutritional experts, says Muslihah, do not have a reference that is good enough about somebody’s condition who goes on hunger strike for 42 days consciously.

Seeing the condition, Muslihah and other medical practitioners hope that the Head of the Team of Judges in the sexual harassment trial, Hari Sasangka will allow Anand to be treated at home. This step is expected to make Anand eat again and recover his health.

“Although we are not law practitioners, but whether it’s law or medical science that we apply, highly honor human rights and divinity above anything,”says Muslihah who represents 9 medical practitioners.
